Hogenakkal Waterfalls trip!! Also called as Hoginekal / Hoganikal waterfalls !!

WOW….Awesome…..Marvelous are the words you get when you visit Hogenakkal (Hoginekal / Hoganikal) Waterfalls!!

We’ve thought it was a normal water fall but after going there it was lots and lots of fun which was a travel on my bike…..

Few words about my Bike: Generally I love to travel on my CBZ Xtreme Bike (AP13N 2499) with my younger Brother Srikanth (Presently in my home town Hyderabad)……Me and my brother had two long trips and several short trips on this Bike, Of the Long Trips the first was from Hyderabad to Vuyyur (My wife’s home town) which is on Vijayawada – Machilipatnam road and the second was from Hyderabad to Srisailam ……Both were really unforgettable trips….My Bike goes as fast as 115 kms/hr generally on good tracks…….Later most of my Trips on my Bike were with my wife and kids (Travelled max at 70 – 80 km/hr) which are Hyderabad to Nagarjuna Sagar (including Paapanaashanam Falls) and Bangalore to Mekedatu…..Nearby site seeing in Hyderabad and Bangalore were also enjoyed and are being on this super bike…..

Me and my friend Nagaraju Started from our room at Electronic City, Bangalore around 07:20 AM on my CBZ Xtreme Bike with Tank full of petrol…….

We have not stopped except Dharmapuri (NH-7 Straight road via Hosur & Krishnagiri)..where we had our Breakfast at around 9AM after around 120 Kms...on an average went at 70 - 80 km/hr…Then two more times on the Ghat road for a small photo session…

So travelled a total of around 170 kms and reached Hogenakkal at 10:15 AM, due to my friend driving a bit slower after breakfast when we took a right on the NH-7 to the state highway from Dharmapuri to Hogenakkal waterfalls….the route is good (not as fine as NH-7 of course) …..with a bit of Ghat road….

We have carried a set of clothes, Towels and some chapatti’s to eat….But there was adequate food shops available to eat…we were vegetarian’s but for Non-vegetarian’s lots of Fish fry shops are available…..

First we went to cross the Hanging bridge, had some photo sessions at Main Waterfalls and went to a place where water was flowing, people are bathing, enjoying in small waterfalls where it was written “Way to CINI WATER FALLS”…took some rest after having oil massage so that gingerly oil goes in to the head to kick off the heat…enjoyed with water by having bath in the water and stayed for around 2 hrs in water…

Refreshed ourselves, changed the clothes, and had chapattis (Better take some curd or cooling stuff since it will be hot after 2 hrs long bath :) :))…….

Climbed a Tower post which is available by paying Rs. 3 per head from where we can seen the site of the Raft travel (It is called Teppa in all of the South Indian languages)….

Next was the big one….we went for boating in the Raft…..We paid Rs.350 for 2 of us, which was a stringent bargain with the people there….generally it is Rs.100 - 150 per head or even less if you go in a 4-6 group – Bargain is important to save some bugs….…ask for live jackets if travelling in group or with kids….

It will be around 90 minutes of enjoyment on the Raft, which stops at 3-5 waterfalls….one of them is a big one…but water is not clean so we have not gone for another bath..or else it would have been wonderful….people travelling in rainy season should get clean water and should enjoy more than we did…You can even stay at some of the places for more than 90 minutes by paying extra to the driver of the Raft…..

Once we came back after 90 minutes we were in a different world….Fully satisfied without any complaints as we travelled from Bangalore for around 3 Hrs…….Overall the trip was superb…Then we came back to the surrounding areas..enjoyed some scenes and went to parking place by closing the circle of the Main Falls using another Raft for Rs. 10 per head…..

Had some lemon soda, started at around 4:30 PM on the Bike where we planned to reach Hosur early to see Lord Shiva Temple (Chandra Choodeshwar Temple) at Hosur a 256 - 260 A.D. temple….Marvelous one….I have a post on it earlier…..Click here to see about Chandra Choodeswarar Temple, Hosur..

We reached Hosur at around 6 PM which is around 135 Kms from Hogenakkal Falls, so averaged around 85 kms/hr due to some traffic on the highway at some places….Had darshan of the lord Siva and started back home again at 7PM….Travelled another 35 kms and reached home at 7:30 PM…..

So if you don’t stop in the middle and drive at a good speed, you reach Hogenakkal in just 2 Hrs from Electronic City…

What a Trip that was…Simply superb…Will remember this one after many trips going forward also…..at least my friend will remember for sure as he travelled in the Raft for the first time :)
